Boeing protects, connects and explores our world and beyond. As a leading global aerospace company, Boeing develops, manufactures and services commercial airplanes, defense products and space systems for customers in more than 150 countries. Boeing has been committed to protecting, connecting and exploring our world and beyond, and we continue to do so today, safely and sustainably. Sustainability is rooted in our company values, our stakeholders’ expectations, and encompasses our focus on environmental stewardship (E), social progress and inclusion (S), and values-based, transparent governance of our company (G). Boeing has pledged to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, with other industry partners within the IATA framework. We have four main strategies for achieving the net-zero target: fleet renewal, operational efficiency, renewable energy and advanced technology. With each new generation of aircraft, up to 25% of carbon emissions reduction and fuel efficiency is achieved. Operational efficiency improvements using digital solutions and analytics also provide up to 15% of emissions reduction. Boeing has been testing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and hydrogen fuel cells in various aircraft since 2008, and collaborating with policymakers in Southeast Asia to advocate for industry incentives to increase SAF supply for price competitiveness and facilitate inter-industry dialogue between energy and aviation sectors, in order to bridge SAF supply chain gaps. In Vietnam, Boeing would similarly be keen to work on exploring SAF production potential using agricultural waste products such as rice husks.
